I wanted to illustrate the benefits of studying philosophy; asking big questions and identifying what is essential. I thought, “How better to illustrate the benefits of philosophy than showcasing people who have contributed to our world because of their qualities of mind and character? When people know exactly what can be accomplished and have the desire to improve the world, philosophy becomes intriguing. I tried to make the commercial something like how I would picture it, if the board of education of Quebec had actually made it; simple and understandable. I included people, whom to me are luminaries of the contemporary world, from different ethnicities, religions and cultures to appeal to the vast and diverse audience of Quebec. The short clips are not boring nor uninteresting so teens will, in my opinion, be more likely to watch this commercial unlike the others they fast forward through.
Teens Need Philosophy
Adam and Hozaifa teamed up last year in the Philosophy for Teens class to put together this commercial. Their goal was to promote the class by telling other students why they would be interested in learning about philosophy. Since then, it has been the “gold standard” for students who want to use Prezi as a presentation platform. The big thrill comes at the very end! Wait for it…..

The Psychopath
Have you ever wondered why some people become psychopaths? What explains this complete lack of empathy for other people? Is this a brain disease or can we trace its origins to some terrible event in childhood? In this project, I investigate the attachment theory explanation as well as the brain disease theory. God in the Brain and Temporal Lobe Epilepsy by D. Darwiche
We recently watched a documentary about the brain research being done by the neuroscientist V. Ramachandran. Of all the incredible things we learned, the idea that temporal lobe epilepsy might bring religious visions and mystical feelings really captured my attention.
